Anything more or you believe a lot of weight will be supported on the mantel, use the mantel brackets that attach to the stud. If your mantel weighs less than 150 pounds, you can use our floating shelf brackets. However, if you have a lightweight to medium weight mantel that you want to support without opening up the wall, you can do that. Your mantel must not extend from the mounting surface more than 17'-20.

The important thing to remember here is our Floating Shelf Bracket is made for shelves. Extension: The MM750 mounts your TV 1.8125' from the wall and extends forward up to 20.5' off the wall (half-drop) or 17' off the wall (full 30.5' drop). You’ll need 1 drill guide per mounting bar. Use small screws just big enough to hold the guide in place.
